LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Newly released 911 calls illustrate the confusion and harrowing attempts to save the lives of two children who died after an apartment fire in Las Vegas.
The fire happened on June 10 at the Veridian Palms apartment complex on Nellis near Sahara. In the calls obtained by 8 News Now, you can hear people pounding on doors.

- Caller: There’s somebody in the house, kids in the house.
- Dispatcher: What apartment are we going to?
- Caller: I don’t know, I don’t know, I just was sitting by the pool with my nephew, and I think someone talked on fire. I ran over here and called 911.
You can hear those neighbors lost in the complex. As the smoke grew, they worked to figure out which apartment was on fire.
A few days later, the Clark County Coroner released the identities of the children: 6-year-old Champion Moore and 3-year-old Caliyah Casey. Their mother, Crystal Coleman suffered minor injuries…
