ICE agent accused of pointing gun at motorists wants case moved to federal court

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent facing felony assault charges for allegedly pointing his gun at motorists on a Minneapolis highway wants his case to be moved out of Hennepin County and into federal court.

Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr., 35, traveled to Minnesota and turned himself in to authorities in May, several weeks after he was charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

During the height of Operation Metro Surge in February, Morgan was driving an unmarked Ford Expedition on Highway 62 in Minneapolis, when he allegedly pulled up alongside another vehicle, rolled down the window, and pointed a black handgun at the driver and passenger of the other car, which was reportedly attempting to block the SUV from bypassing traffic on the right shoulder.

Morgan’s defense team doesn’t deny that he pointed a gun at motorists, but claims that the other vehicle intentionally swerved in front of them twice, “nearly causing Agent Morgan and his partner to be in rear end collision or be run off the road.”…
