SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Veterans from around the country have come to Detroit to compete in the annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games, and nine Utahns are among them.
The national Veterans Wheelchair Games is an annual adaptive sports competition co-presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) for veterans who use wheelchairs for athletic competition.
This year, the event spans July 9 to July 14, and nine Utah veterans who served in all branches of the military are competing. They are also from all over Utah, from St. George to the Wasatch Front and up to Weber County. They will compete in a variety of sports like basketball, softball, and wheelchair rugby.
