FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Twelve dogs recently arrived at the Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport, Ill., after a nearly 1,000-mile journey. The non-profit organization Pilots to the Rescue facilitated the transport from Marshall, Texas, aiming to place the animals in new homes.
The transfer of the at-risk pets involved an approximately 18-hour trip, concluding in Freeport. Pilots to the Rescue specializes in moving animals across the country to adoption and care centers where they can thrive, helping shelters in areas that need assistance.
Heather Kempel, office manager for the Friends Forever Humane Society, expressed the organization’s commitment to assisting in the rescue efforts. “It’s wonderful that we’re able to help out when you’re in an area that does need the assistance. We will have those animals here and then, hopefully be able to find them, you know, some good, good homes here very quickly,” Kempel said…
