Cedar Rapids man accused of starting large brush fire submits ignorance defense

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids man accused of starting a fire that spread over 35 acres back in March plans to use an ignorance or mistake defense in court.

David Mathison was charged with reckless use of fire.

An ignorance or mistake defense would ask Mathison to prove that he had incorrect information or did not have intent to to break the law…
