Iowa Woman Busted For Intoxication Behind the Wheel of a Lawn Mower

  • Michelle Hudson was arrested in Tiffin, Iowa for operating a riding lawn mower while showing signs of impairment, leading to charges of OUI and driving while barred.

When a witness in Tiffin, Iowa called the cops to report a driver who appeared intoxicated on July 31, she wasn’t talking about someone behind the wheel of their car. Michelle Hudson was tooling around the parking lot of Casey’s convenience store aboard a riding lawn mower—an orange Husqvarna, to be exact, reported The Smoking Gun.

Hudson, 36, was arrested after failing field sobriety tests administered by the responding police officers. She “showed measurable signs of impairment” according to law enforcement, although her breathalyzer test revealed her to be under the legal alcohol limit. “[She was] believed to be on a drug,” according to police. She refused to provide a urine sample.

Hudson was charged with operating under the influence, or OUI, and driving while barred. The latter charge stems from the fact that her driver’s license is currently suspended due to a 2022 incident when she was busted for driving her Chevrolet Trailblazer while under the influence of methamphetamine in Iowa City.
