COLONIE — The board of the State Liquor Authority on Wednesday denied an application by Market 32/Price Chopper to relocate a liquor store it owns in the same Latham shopping plaza as its flagship supermarket to a space that is essentially within the footprint of the Market 32.
Following a 90-minute hearing, with testimony during the board meeting at the SLA’s Manhattan office and remotely from its Albany office, the board voted 2-to-1 to reject the plan to move Latham Liquors, which the chain bought last year. Prior to the ruling, an attorney for Market 32 said during the hearing that it would continue running the liquor store, located 470 feet north of the supermarket in New Loudon Center plaza, if the relocation was denied.
“We are disappointed with the decision and are currently evaluating our options,” Market 32/Price Chopper spokeswoman Mona Golub said Thursday. SLA regulations allow denied applicants to reapply, but the appeal must include new or expanded arguments and additional information…
