CENTRAL CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Linn County Conservation has moved to an all-online reservation system for its campgrounds, ending cash payments and walk-up bookings at its four parks.
The change, which took effect this week, applies to all 300 campsites across Linn County’s parks. Previously, the county accepted a mix of first-come, first-served walk-ups and online reservations.
Why the county made the switch
Linn County Conservation Deputy Director Daniel Gibbins said the digital system allows campers to book sites up to a year in advance. He said the move also addresses ongoing payment problems the county has encountered.
“More and more, just a lot of checks that they don’t have the money in the account, but they write the check, or there’s an improper amount of cash in the envelope,” Gibbins said…
