Albany woman faces prison in man’s stabbing death

ALBANY — A 42-year-old woman pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter Friday, admitting she carried out the Dec. 23, 2023, killing of a 74-year-old city man on North Lake Avenue, the Albany County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Vanesia Brundage, who was originally charged with second-degree murder, pleaded guilty during a Friday afternoon appearance in Albany County Judge Andra Ackerman’s courtroom. As part of a deal with prosecutors, Brundage faces 20 years in state prison when she’s sentenced on Oct. 8. If convicted of the murder charge, she faced a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
