LINN COUNTY, Iowa (IOWA’S NEWS NOW) — The Hiawatha man who got probation in a plea deal on charges connected to the February 2024 murder of Melody Hoffman will now serve prison time after multiple probation violations, including leaving a work release facility.
Logan Kimpton will serve up to ten years in prison on his conspiracy count, according to court filings made this week in Linn County. Kimpton was arrested in June after leaving the Lary A. Nelson Center, where he’d been after another probation violation earlier in the year.
Kimpton was with McKenzie Louisma and Dakota Van Patten the night they bought the weapons used in Hoffman’s murder, but Kimpton told investigators that he “chickened out” of the killing itself…
