EAST CHATHAM, NY (WRGB) — A California man faces both DWI and weapons charges after State Police investigated a vehicle they found off the shoulder of the Thruway.
On August 12, 2026, troopers assigned to State Police Troop T, SP Albany and Troop K Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Lorne Christopher Thayer, 59, of LaHonda, CA, on felony weapons charges and driving while intoxicated.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 12, troopers from SP Albany observed a 2017 Ram truck parked in a grass field off the right shoulder of the New York State Thruway (I-90) westbound in the town of East Chatham.
