ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Palace Theatre took over the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Pearl Street in Albany this afternoon for its annual community block party. Hundreds of families came out for four hours of free food, live music and activities for kids.

“Everything is free. As part of our community engagement initiative is something that we do for the community every year. And we just hope that everybody comes out and has a great time without having to worry about digging in their pockets for anything.” explained Kevin Johnson, the President and CEO of the Palace Theater.
Now in it’s 8th year, organizers said more than 3,000 people attended the block party. “I know we had over 40 vendors in local community organizations here in terms of people here. And we’ve had at least several thousand people here so far,” said Sean Allen, Director of Marketing at the Palace Theater.
Hospitals heightening security measures with peace officers
People could enjoy free food from Ted’s Fish Fry and the Skinny Pancake, games for kids, face painting, bouncy houses, live music and even pony rides.
The Albany Rock Pit music school provided the live entertainment. Their director of operations said that music is a great way to get kids positively involved in the community.

Maddy Caiazzo, Director of Operations for the Albany Rock Pit, continued, “Music is a little bit more of an expensive venture, but we want everyone to know there is opportunity for some parents and kids that can’t really afford to get out there with their kids really want to, just approach us. We always try to help in any way that we possibly can,”…
