ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Cindy B’s opened inside the former St. Rose Campus athletic center on August 17. The opening is part of a larger Albany County effort to revitalize the area around the campus in the Pine Hills neighborhood.
The woman the cafe is named after, Cindy Christman, opened the cafe with her family after being approached by Albany County. The Christman’s also own Olivia’s Cafe on Western Ave.

Christman is a former St. Rose alumni, and retired as a teacher in June. She said in an interview with NEWS10’s Bianca Caputo that being on the campus brings back memories, but she’s excited for the future ahead.
Christman said she hopes the space will be a place community can gather and enjoy a cup of coffee. Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy said putting businesses on the campus is needed to make up unexpected costs from buildings in disrepair as costs have ballooned over $10 million…
