Anyone living in Western North Carolina knows that affordable housing is increasingly out of reach. Rising costs, limited housing supply and the devastating loss of homes caused by Hurricane Helene have only deepened the crisis. Today, simply having a full-time job is no longer a guarantee that someone can afford to secure, and keep, a safe, stable roof over their head.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, Pisgah Legal Services will welcome Brian Goldstone as this year’s Justice Forum keynote speaker. The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist’s work shines a light on the “working homeless” and explores the human impact of housing insecurity, poverty and economic inequality. He will share insights illustrated in his award-winning book, “There is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America.”
