ELKHART, Ind. (WISH) — The U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday arrested an Indianapolis woman after a January pursuit and crash left a teenager with serious injuries in Elkhart County, Indiana State Police said in a Wednesday morning news release.
Nakia Adams, 26, faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement that caused serious bodily injury and causing serious bodily injury with a controlled substance in her system. Marshals took Adams into custody Monday morning at her Indianapolis home. She was held at the Marion County jail awaiting extradition to Elkhart County. Circle City Broadcasting reached out to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for Adams booking photo but did not immediately hear back.
The investigation into Adams began at 12:13 p.m. Jan. 13 at a Meijer department store near the intersection of Cassopolis Street and Emerson Drive in Elkhart. An Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office deputy was working an off-duty security job in uniform when he was told about a shoplifting suspect. The deputy was not named in the news release…
