SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Firefighters in San Francisco responded to a man trapped in a garbage truck Wednesday morning, according to the fire department. Crews had to dig out the garbage to access the victim, officials said at 5:38 a.m.
The San Francisco Fire Department said a Recology truck driver was flagged down after a bystander heard yelling from inside the garbage area. Fire crews responded to the truck at 4:11 a.m. in the 100 block of Mason Street, near Union Square.
Fire crews were able to pull the man free from the truck before he was transported to the hospital. The man was conscious and breathing, fire officials said.
