Checking in on some committed-elsewhere game day visitors
Of the top prospects in Georgia last weekend, the most notable prospect committed to another school who went on a game day visit elsewhere was Nebraska offensive line commit Timi Aliu out of Locust Grove (Ga.). Aliu visited Florida State for the Week 0 matchup, and acknowledged to 247Sports that the Seminoles are still recruiting him as normal. He still considers himself fully locked in with Nebraska, however. After digging in with some sources around this one, there’s very little concern on the Nebraska side about this visit and saw it as an opportunity for Aliu to go to a Week 0 game with some teammates and coaches. Right now, Nebraska need not worry about holding on to Aliu here.
The same probably can’t be said for UConn cornerback commit Preston Glasco from Grayson (Ga.), who continues to be courted by SEC programs. Georgia and South Carolina have been the two most often mentioned in association with Glasco, but there’s a new contender in town: Alabama. Glasco will be in Tuscaloosa for the season-opener in Week 1, and we’ll be watching a potential offer closely. The Crimson Tide have sneakily been as involved as South Carolina and Georgia in recent months, so this first game day going to Alabama tells you a lot about the Crimson Tide having a true chance in this one were they to push.
As national analyst Brendan Sonnone and I reported, Valdosta (Ga.) athlete Marquis Fennell, a Stanford commit, will visit Georgia Tech on Thursday for the standalone opener. Georgia Tech and Colorado were the two primary challengers — along with Florida State — when Fennell committed to Stanford. It sounds like several programs are keeping Fennell warm, but none are making an effort yet that should concern Stanford. Fennell is still comfortably locked in with Stanford ahead of this visit…
