With the inaugural Colorado Pizza Festival happening this weekend, I’ve been wondering for a while why Longmont is lauded for having so much good pizza.
For a city its size, the concentration is unusual. Within a few blocks of downtown, you can find serious New York-style pizza, Detroit-style pizza, artisan pies and hybrids that are harder to classify. The people making them compete nationally, win awards and, perhaps more surprisingly, eat at each other’s restaurants.
