ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two residents of the Luther Center in downtown Rockford have been diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease, prompting officials to shut off hot water throughout the building while additional safety measures are developed.
The Winnebago County Health Department said it identified two laboratory-confirmed cases in coordination with the Illinois Department of Public Health.
According to a plumbing safety notice posted at the Luther Center, IDPH began an environmental investigation at the building on Sept. 2 after the two residents were diagnosed.
