Storm Team 3: Isolated storms Friday, weekend soaking rain likely

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Very warm and humid conditions continue for Friday and into the weekend with the addition of showers and storms. Some periods of heavy rain become more likely on Sunday and early next week.

Friday morning is forecast to start out very warm and humid with low temperatures only cooling into the upper 60s to lower 70s for most locations. Coastal communities will start the day in the lower to middle 70s.

Areas of patchy and dense fog are possible during the overnight hours and extending into mid-Friday morning. Visibility reading less than half a mile is expected. While inland communities have the greatest fog risk on Friday, some fog may extend east of I-95.

A mix of clouds and sunshine is expected for Friday afternoon. High temperatures will warm into the upper 80s to lower 90s before showers and storms begin to develop. The best chance for showers and storms will be in the late afternoon and into the early evening. Some lingering showers are possible past 9 p.m.

Even higher showers and thunderstorm chances are forecast over the weekend and early next week as a slow-moving cold front approaches the southeastern U.S. Deep tropical moisture will be concentrated over the region, leading to areas of heavy and soaking rain…
