Rochester fighters turn loss into a message in the ring

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Messiah Miles remembers the moment violence became real.

“I remember very vividly, I was in the eighth grade, and one of my friends … he was murdered. He was stabbed in the neck, going home from school,” Miles said. “He was a loved kid by everybody. He was always smiling. And I always kept that pretty close to my heart,” Miles added.

Miles grew up in Rochester but now lives in North Carolina, where he works in law enforcement. He lost Teasley in middle school. Teasley was stabbed while walking home…
