Ukrainian-founded dessert bar in San Antonio hits new heights after viral buzz

One of the Alamo City’s most popular homegrown mini-chains is eyeing a new part of town for its next big move.

With four locations in and around San Antonio, Ukrainian-owned Laika Cheesecakes & Espresso has a new project details page filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), indicating that a new location is headed to TPC Parkway. According to the filing, construction is expected to begin on May 8, 2026, with a projected completion date of November 9, 2026.

The estimated cost to build out the new Laika is around $200,000. However, details on the TDLR project filings can change without notice.

In December 2020, the first Laika Cheesecake and Espresso opened at 4718 Broadway, winning over locals for its cheesecake served in a jar that comes in all sorts of sweet and fruit-infused flavors. The business later opened its second location in the Alamo Ranch area in 2023. After that, Laika set its sights on the Hill Country with its first New Braunfels eatery, which opened in 2024.
