Hyperscale data center eyed for Waterville Township

WATERVILLE TOWNSHIP – Looking east from their front yard, Dave and Amy Lindquist gazed past the open farmland across Finzel Road to the semis traversing U.S. 24 in the distance.

When the highway was completed in 2012, it changed the landscape of the rural Waterville Township. Now, with news that a developer is eyeing 1,000 to 1,400 acres south of Neapolis-Waterville road for a hyperscale data center, residents are bracing for a project they believe will have even more of an impact than the highway bypass.

“I hope this doesn’t go in, because I think it will ruin Waterville Township,” Dave said, after listening to township trustees share details during their April 22 meeting
