FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: Strong to severe thunderstorms possible tonight into Wednesday

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Strong to severe thunderstorms could develop Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing the potential for damaging wind gusts and hail to portions of Georgia.

A Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms remains in effect for a line stretching from south of Columbus northward to the Georgia-North Carolina and Georgia-South Carolina border, extending through Wednesday morning. West central Georgia also faces a marginal severe risk through Wednesday afternoon.

What to Expect Tonight and Wednesday

West central Georgia will likely see isolated thunderstorms through this evening and into tonight, while most of northern and central Georgia should remain relatively calm before the next round of storms arrives.

A widespread round of showers with embedded thunderstorms will move into the area, with the strongest storms capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Showers and thunderstorms will weaken and become more sparse through Wednesday morning, with lingering isolated showers possible through the rest of the day…
