The message is in support of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, which is on April 30.
A specialty license plate that serves as a tribute to pets was first introduced in the state in 1996. Originally known as the LOVE YOUR PET plate, it was discontinued in November 2004 and replaced with the Our Best Friends plate that is still available today.
