Deputies: Man in custody after mental health crisis in Parma, lockout lifted at Hilton schools

PARMA, N.Y. — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say they took a man into custody on Thursday after he had a mental health crisis at a home in Parma.

Four Hilton schools were put on lockout during the investigation in abundance of caution, according to the Hilton Central School District. The lockout, impacting the high school, Merton Williams, Village Elementary, and QUEST Elementary, ended just before 1 p.m.

It took deputies about 50 minutes to take the man into custody. Deputies responded to the home around 11:50 a.m. and worked to create a perimeter. After that, they made contact with the man in his 20s to “de-escalate the situation.”…
