JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was sentenced in connection to a fatal shooting at a Jackson apartment complex in 2021.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said Julius Adams, 34, was sentenced to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). This comes after Adams was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Timothy White, 39.

The shooting occurred in the 4900 block of McWillie Drive on September 24, 2021. When officers arrived, they were met by White’s girlfriend, who stated that White had been shot. Investigators said White had been shot in the head and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to police, Adams had been searching for the mother of his child and first went to an apartment belonging to the daughter of White’s girlfriend. They said Adams pulled out a gun and demanded to know where she was. When she told him she did not know, Owens said Adams took her cellphone and began sending texts from it, pretending to be her, in an attempt to locate the woman.
Shortly after, the daughter went to her mother’s apartment in the same complex where White also lived. Moments later, police said Adams arrived and knocked on the door. When White answered, Adams began yelling and asked if the woman was inside…
