Portion of 35th Street to close temporarily for flood abatement project

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Columbus, Georgia’s First Consolidated Government officials announced on Friday that a portion of 35th Street will be closed as part of the 19th Street Flood Abatement Project.

According to officials, the 19th Street Flood Abatement Project is an installation of a new box culvert and flood basin to contain the CSS and reduce flooding issues.

The project will run on the West side of Veterans Parkway from Apex Road to the flood basin near 29th Street.

The 35th Street closure will begin the week of May 4 and is expected to last approximately 60 days…
