Springfield artist wants 66 of these “Route 66” sculptures in town

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The artist behind the “Springfield 66: Centennial Sculpture Series” effort says the 16 sculptures that are scattered around town could just be the beginning.

Heidi Herrman-Bacon spoke with Ozarks First about how the idea came together, and what she eventually wants to see it become. Right now, the sculptures are in several spots that you can find using an interactive trail thanks to Visit Springfield. They are complete with QR codes you can scan that give you information about the artists that painted them, and the location they are in. Find that interactive trail here.

Herrman-Bacon, the founder and director of the series, says the idea started after a conversation with an existing sculpture project manager in Springfield.

With 16 already up, Herrman-Bacon wants to see it grow even more…
