COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — According to AAA, gas prices in Georgia have risen more than 30 cents since last month pushing the state average to just over four dollars a gallon. One local driving service owner who serves the elderly says he’s spending 30 percent more on gasoline this year compared to last year.
“Last year, for the month of April, we averaged about 280, a gallon for fuel. And now fuel is about 380,” said Director of Operations at Glory Brothers Transport, Courtland Dixon.
Businesses like Dixon’s aren’t the only one feeling the effect as even non-profits like Direct Services in Columbus that also offer elderly aid are searching for answers.
“I mean, any increase in pricing on anything impacts a non-profit. But gas is really hitting us hard, you know, with a thousand miles a day. And that doesn’t include our other services,” said Chief Executive Officer of Direct Services, Amy Bryan…
