Gunfire Chaos Shatters Portland Easter Egg Hunt At Parklane Park

An Easter egg hunt at a newly revamped East Portland park turned chaotic when gunfire broke out among families and children on April 5, and now two people are facing charges after a weeks-long police investigation.

Portland police say one person fired multiple rounds during the event at Parklane Park while families were still in the area. No one was hurt, but a vehicle was hit by gunfire. Detectives said the case is still active and warned that additional charges could be filed as more evidence comes in.

What happened

Investigators say the shooting began around 6:10 p.m. on April 5, just as dozens of families were in the middle of the neighborhood Easter egg hunt. According to detectives, a confrontation escalated into multiple verbal and physical fights before the gunfire.

Police say both suspects briefly left the park, then returned, at which point one of them fired several rounds into the air and toward the crowd. Those details were reported by KPTV.
