PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A vegan dining spot in Southwest Portland will say goodbye to customers in just a month.
Earlier this week, Vertical Diner revealed it will serve its final plant-based meal on Sunday, June 14. The restaurant first opened on 8124 SW Barber Blvd. in July 2019, but “the business has been economically challenging for a long time,” owners said.

“We had planned to close years ago after the pandemic, but fell in love with our amazing customers and couldn’t bring ourselves to do it,” Vertical Diner wrote in a social media post. “At this time, the costs of operation are unsustainable.”
Employees learned of the shutdown earlier in February, according to the announcement. Owners are now urging customers to “be patient” with them, as they work with fewer staff and begin eliminating some of its menu items ahead of the closure…
