Beaverton HS alums visit original building before demolition, transition to new facility

BEAVERTON Ore. (KPTV) – More than 400 alums, family members, and school staff filled the halls of Beaverton High School Saturday, taking one last tour through the building before it’s torn down and the school transitions into a new facility.

Beaverton High School (BHS) on Southwest 2nd Street is the district’s oldest school, with roots dating back to 1916. The building will be demolished due to aging infrastructure, and because much of the campus does not meet current seismic standards.

According to Beaverton schools, Beaverton High School is the district’s only high school with a seismic rating below “Collapse Prevention,” putting it at risk of partial or full collapse during an earthquake…
