Florida Mom Chained Teen Daughter To Fence For A ‘Break’ After Losing Job, Cops Say

A 34-year-old Florida woman was arrested Saturday after police said she chained her teenage daughter to a fence in the heat for roughly an hour, turning her phone on silent to avoid being disturbed.

Yashira Maldonado faces charges of child abuse and child neglect following an incident in Hialeah, Florida. According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, Hialeah police officers responded to a disturbance call around 10 a.m. in the 300 block of West 63rd Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 13-year-old girl chained to a fence without food or water.

Neighbor surveillance footage showed Maldonado dropping the teenager off about an hour earlier. Police stated the video shows Maldonado placing a metal chain around the girl’s waist and tying it to the fence outside a residence where Maldonado’s mother and grandmother live…
