Nicolas Lopez Martinez, 50, has been arrested and charged with a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of pedestrian Georgia Salas, 65. The event occurred at 7200 Lyons Avenue on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, around 6:05 p.m. Charges against Martinez include failure to stop and render aid, as filed by the 248th State District Court.
Salas was hit by a silver Nissan Rogue while walking on the sidewalk. The car was exiting a private parking lot. Martinez, identified as the driver, left the scene immediately. Patrol officers later apprehended him.
Salas was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics, where she was later pronounced dead despite medical efforts. The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, including Sergeant L. Le and Officers M. Alanis and Z. Radcliffe, reported on the case.
Martinez was questioned by authorities after his arrest and taken to the Harris County Jail. His booking photo was included in the news release. The charges are based on his failure to provide assistance at the accident scene.
