Customers seek refunds after Sevier County tanning salons abruptly close

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE ) — After a tanning salon in Sevier County abruptly closed its doors, customers are hoping for a refund for the services they prepaid for.

Both the Seymour and Sevierville locations of Speed of Light Tan closed for the week during the winter weather event earlier this month and never reopened.

Katie Gibson has been going to the salon for years and said she wasn’t notified it was closing.

“I tried to look up and Google it, and that’s when I noticed it said ‘permanently closed.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, what’s up with this?’ So immediately, I called the Sevierville salon. There was no answer there, so I’m like, ‘What’s going on here? This is kind of weird,’” she said.

Now, she’s out $200 she had paid for tanning packages and is trying to figure out her next step.

“I work hard for my money, and I want to get what I paid for or give me my money back, one or the other, so I just want to make it right,” she said.
