(WHTM) — Police responded to questions after Thursday’s Berks County stop for the Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 locomotive‘s nationwide tour was declared a “mass casualty incident.”
The Muhlenberg Township Police Department declared Thursday’s event a “mass casualty incident” after more than 100 people received medical treatment on scene, and 35 people were taken to the hospital for evaluation and care for heat-related illnesses.
The incident gained significant attention on social media after law enforcement characterized it as a “mass casualty incident.” The Police Department has since responded with some clarification.
