MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – An investigation is underway after a teen in Wisconsin arrived at the hospital Thursday evening and was suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to a release, the shooting had occurred along the 5900 block of Milwaukee Street in Madison. The injured 16-year-old arrived at the hospital at 5:25 p.m. and had an 18-year-old woman with him at the time of the shooting.

Both teens gave statements that the shooting was accidental. During the investigation, police learned that the injured teen’s mother had been gone for the past month, living out of state, and no one was checking in on him.
Police say Child Protective Services was notified and the 16-year-old was placed in the care of family. No other information is available at this time and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing…
