MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WBBJ) – A Savannah man is among three individuals facing state charges in Tennessee following separate investigations by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division.
The TBI announced the charges following the U.S. Department of Justice’s national healthcare fraud takedown announcement during the week of June 22, 2026. The three unrelated cases involve allegations of TennCare fraud, theft, and the financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
Savannah man charged with financial exploitation
In Savannah, agents began investigating allegations of exploitation and theft in November 2025 following a referral from Adult Protective Services.
The investigation identified Mitchell Copeland, 33, an acquaintance of the victim’s family, as the individual responsible for the financial exploitation of an elderly man with an intellectual disability. The TBI said the exploitation occurred between May 2025 and April 2026…
