One year later, lifesaving program proves its worth

PRINCETON — Just over a year after launching an innovative cardiac care program, M Health Fairview Northland Hospital has helped save the lives of three patients who may not have survived otherwise.

According to the hospital, fewer than 12% of people survive a sudden cardiac arrest. Since Princeton began offering extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in partnership with M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center, the program has been activated three times, and all three patients survived.
