School began across the Modesto City Schools district Tuesday, and Grace M. Davis High School student Jonathon Yong said he has one goal for himself: Experience everything a senior year has to offer.
Yong is the activities director for the Associated Student Body, and he was one of dozens of students welcoming their peers back to school Tuesday morning. As students arrived to school, cheerleaders, student leaders like Yong, and staff cheered them on. An inflatable Spartan tunnel also welcomed students.
“What is a school without spirit?” Yong said. “I would come to a school that has so much spirit rather than go to one that’s just dead because there’s nothing going on.”…
