OPINIONS: We think recently approved developments in Ocala will make traffic worse

After the Ocala City Council approved requests associated with two developments that will bring nearly 600 and 2,700 residences to different sites, several residents wrote in to share opinions. Here are a few of those letters:

“I find it amazing that this new huge residential development has been approved. How can State Road 200 handle more traffic. Driving on SR 200 feels these days just like being in NYC. The city seems to approve anything that comes before it. It is truly reprehensible.”Jean C. Long, Ocala

“I can’t believe they are allowing so many low density housing units in our area and county, impacting State Road 200, which is already way too over-loaded and water demands on our aquifer. This is cramming too many people into small spaces. Whatever happened to one house per acre or at least a half-acre?” – Anita Scroggie, Ocala
