Cop threatens to taser homeless man who refused to cooperate during arrest

A police officer threatened to taser a homeless man who refused to cooperate when the officer tried to take him into custody.

An officer recognized 51-year-old Scott Allen Hutcheson walking southbound on County Road 468 at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, May 17, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. He had an active warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court, so the officer ordered him to put his hands behind his back.

Hutcheson cursed but complied until his right wrist was handcuffed. He then turned and asked if he could call someone. The officer told him no, continuing to hold his wrist to prevent him from turning, the report said.

The officer also put his left hand on Hutcheson’s right shoulder in preparation to take him to the ground. Hutcheson suddenly cursed again and ripped his arm from the officer’s grasp. Fearing he would flee, the officer shoved him forward and drew his taser, the report said…
