Family-owned Vietnamese restaurant opening in former McCormick & Schmick’s space

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — More than two years after a dining chain shuttered its final Portland location, a new eatery is planning to open in its place.

Cay Restaurant is gearing up to take over 309 S. Montgomery St., which once held McCormick & Schmick’s until it closed permanently in late March 2024. The incoming business will operate as a Vietnamese restaurant, with 24-year-old Khoa Tran, his mother Minhthy Nguyen and other relatives at the helm.

And the family is no stranger to Oregon’s dining scene…
