ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Summer break may still be in full swing, but the start of the 2026-27 school year is just weeks away for students across northern Illinois.
Several area school districts will welcome students back to classrooms beginning in early August, with some schools staggering return dates by grade level. Hononegah Community High School freshmen are scheduled to return first on August 7, while Winnebago students have the latest listed start date on August 26.
