People interested in helping clear snow and ice from roads in Winnebago and Boone counties can learn about seasonal job opportunities during an Illinois Department of Transportation open house Aug. 20 in Rockford.
The hiring event will run from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Rockford Maintenance Yard, 4109 11th St., according to a community announcement. Attendees can speak with IDOT staff about seasonal winter maintenance positions and receive help completing the online application process.
Applications must be submitted through illinois.jobs2web.com. IDOT said the easiest way to find a posting is to enter a preferred county in the website search bar. The deadline to apply for Winter Salaried Highway Maintainer positions, known as Monthly Snowbirds, is Aug. 21.
