SOUTHERN WISCONSIN — A proposed 190-mile, 765-kilovolt transmission line across southern Wisconsin is drawing both support from its developers and opposition from landowners and community groups.
The BECI Project is being proposed by Midcontinent Grid Solutions, or MGS. It would connect electric facilities in Crawford County with facilities in Walworth County before continuing to the Illinois state line. The study area includes portions of Crawford, Richland, Sauk, Columbia, Dodge, Dane, Jefferson, Rock and Walworth counties.
The project would use steel towers roughly 175 feet tall and require easements approximately 180 feet wide. No final route has been selected…
