LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah (ABC4) — Three hikers were rescued after being stuck on Mt. Superior in Little Cottonwood Canyon on Friday.
According to Salt Lake County Search and Rescue (SLCoSAR), the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. SAR crew members were dispatched to the west of Mt. Superior’s South Ridge.
Three hikers, in their 20s, started hiking around 7:30 p.m. with a larger group, with the intent to camp overnight on Mt. Superior.
As the larger group outpaced the three on the hike in, officials say they got off trail and into steep terrain, where they got to a spot that they couldn’t climb higher and couldn’t safely descend back down…
