Texas Cavaliers cancel River Parade as storms threaten San Antonio

The Texas Cavaliers River Parade was canceled on Monday, April 20, due to storms threatening San Antonio out of an abundance of caution. The cancellation comes as rain continues to plummet down the city, leaving the area under a Flash Flood Warning until 9 p.m.

The parade is a signature event of San Antonio’s Fiesta celebration, taking place annually on the first Monday of the festival along the downtown River Walk. The event features vibrant, decorated barges, music and thousands of spectators, with proceeds benefiting local children’s charities through the Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation. It was scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

“It is with deep disappointment that the Texas Cavaliers announce the cancellation of the 81st Annual River Parade. Out of an abundance of caution, the City of San Antonio has issued a cancellation order, and we must respect this decision,” the Texas Cavaliers wrote on Facebook. “The safety and well-being of our participants, guests, volunteers, and the broader community remains our highest priority.”…
