SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Two men apprehended in Chatham County are among eight defendants indicted by a federal grand jury on illegal reentry charges, prosecutors announced Tuesday.
According to U.S. Attorney Margaret E. “Meg” Heap, the defendants were indicted during the grand jury’s September term in the Southern District of Georgia on charges of reentry after removal or deportation.
The two men taken into custody in Chatham County were identified as:
- Sergio Mendez-Tuxtla, 50, a citizen of Mexico
- Gaspar Ramirez-Diego, 21, a citizen of Guatemala
Six other individuals were apprehended in surrounding counties across southern Georgia:
- Glynn County: Marla Irene Barrientos-Bustillo, 33, of Honduras; Francisco Campos Chino, 40, of Mexico; Edwin Antonio Pacheco-Rivera, 35, of Honduras
- Camden County: Omar Rubio-Figueroa, 45, of Mexico
- Richmond County: Gerialan Humberto Cruz-Dionicio, 32, of Honduras
- McDuffie County: Alejandro Lara Del Los Santos, 41, of Mexico
